Location: Clustering the inland waterways of Fort Lauderdale
History: Sailboat Bend is regarded as the birthplace of Fort Lauderdale. Sailboat Bend also happens to be the only historically designated neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale. In the 19th and early 20th centuries the construction of the railroad led to a new era of commerce and population in Southern Florida, and carpenters, blacksmiths and masons crafted homes in the area.
