History of Colee Hammock: Colee Hammock’s variety of housing architecture is derived from its rich history. Colee Hammock was established sometime around 1836 by the Colee family. Following the Colee family was an influential man by the name of Frank Stranahan, who in 1893 pitched a tent along the new river and began to cultivate the area with a small store and canvas topped huts to accommodate transients passing through the area. These actions were the foundation of the continuous and therefore varietal neighborhood that has come to be known as Colee Hammock.
